Temple Heights Animal Hospital performs endoscopic procedures to evaluate various internal structures such as the trachea, bronchii, thoracic cavities, abdominal and gastrointestinal tract. Nasal passages and ears can also be evaluated for foreign bodies and tumors.

There are two main types of endoscopes: flexible and rigid. Flexible endoscope procedures are most common. The flexible endoscope has a flexible fiber optic insertion tube with a light source and a special lens that allows the doctor to view the area being examined. Endoscope procedures are safe and non-invasive. Endoscope procedures usually require anesthesia.
